The Life Calendar

Client: Nations Trust Bank

Sri Lanka had just experienced a political revolution and its worst economic crisis since independence. Foreign reserves were dwindling leading to a fuel crisis and threatening a food shortage across the country. Nations Trust Bank, a leading private bank wanted to set a good example and inspire the community to help themselves. The annual calendar was the vehicle for an extraordinary project. The Life Calendar was a 100% biodegradable calendar which had vegetable seeds embedded in the paper pulp allowing users to plat the paper and grow their own fruit and vegetables.

Every sheet of paper was handcrafted, as well as the printing process to preserve the seeds within the paper. The Life Calendar inspired a home gardening movement but more importantly encouraged other brands to do more for their communities.
